We recently caught up with Frank DeFilippis – General Manager at DISH Network, to get a sense of what integrators can expect from a meeting with DISH at CEDIA 2022.

CE Pro: What’s new at DISH leading into CEDIA, and why should integrators make some time to visit with you during the expo?

Frank DeFilippis: We’ve got three hot initiatives that we’re eager to talk to integrators about this fall. The first is a revolutionary new platform. It’s the next generation of our award-winning Hopper three platform where we add Android TV to our high-performance set-top box.

So now, luxury customers can have the best of both worlds, traditional pay TV, feature-rich, huge DVR, lots of tuners, fast response, and all the apps they love. So they can watch original content, and syndicated content. And then on top of all that universal search, so I can search for content.

If I don’t know if it’s on conventional TV On Demand, or the latest, the latest app streaming app, it’ll search across all things. So that’s number one.

Number two is DISH Fiber. We’ve been talking to dealers about this for about a year now. But things are really heating up. As we’re doing more and more deals with our integrator partners.

This fiber is managed Wi-Fi for multifamily communities, even single-family neighborhoods, where developers and builders want to provide really high-performance fiber optic delivered, you know, gig speed type performance to an entire property. So residents don’t have to go out and contract with individual ISPs for service.

When you do a property-wide system, you have much greater roaming opportunities and performance and much higher security so that residents can wander around the community, from the gym to the lobby to the clubhouse to the tennis courts never lose connectivity, not just to the internet, but to their home and their residents and all the IoT devices, they have their we have a great program for integrators are eager to talk about it.

The last initiative is project Genesis, and this is dishes 5g network build out. We’re already up and running in 120 cities around the country. We haven’t done a full scale commercial rollout yet. So we are eager to test and refine the network.

And what we found is that integrators and some of their clients are some of the best beta testers that we’ve been able to recruit into the company. So we’ll be talking about to dealers about their interest level in helping us test and build our 5g network. And that project is called Project Genesis.
