Well that didn’t take long… just one week after Amazon Ring announced the launch of its new Ring X line of products exclusive to the custom installation channel, Savant has announced it will become the first manufacturer to fully integrate with Ring X, (as well as the full Ring consumer line). Meanwhile, Savant also revealed at its annual dealer meeting in Las Vegas that it has made an exclusive deal to expand its existing partnership with Netgear to bring a full suite of networking products to its authorized dealers.

Integration with Ring X Pro Line

Ring X, which debuted at CES 2020, are packages of various Ring devices for CE pros, with a longer 3-year warranty (compared to a 1-year warranty on DIY Ring products), heavy-duty metal faceplates, higher price points, and a free lifetime subscription for the Ring Basic plan streaming/recording service that integrators can offer to their clients.

“We are trying to partner better with the industry,” says Andrew Vloyanetes, general manager at Ring who is leading the company’s charge for the professional installation. “None of the Ring X line will be sold online or directly to consumers. It is only for professional installers.”

The entire Ring X line is due to ship later this year. Savant will be selling the Ring X line to its authorized dealers after the launch.

The Ring X line is product packages that include:

Ring Access Controller Pro – Integrated with a Ring Doorbell or Cam, the Access Controller Pro allows homeowners to unlock their gate remotely using the Ring app. Users can see, hear and speak to the guest at the gate. It is also well suited for allowing Key by Amazon package deliveries to be brought on to your property.  It allows one-touch access, and it connects via Ethernet or cellular.

Ring Stick Up Cam Elite – This PoE indoor/outdoor security camera produces 1080 HD video with two-way audio and noise cancellation. It has advanced motion detection and night vision, and requires a power outlet (for the PoE adaptor).

Ring Video Doorbell 2 – This new version of the popular Ring Doorbell produces 1080 HD video with two-way audio and noise cancellation. It uses basic motion detection with night vision and comes with a rechargeable battery pack.

Ring Video Doorbell Pro – Exclusive to the professional installation channel, this device can be retrofitted by an integrator using a home’s existing wiring. It has advanced motion detection, night vision and two-way talk, and it requires a 16-24VAC transformer.

Ring Video Doorbell Elite with Access Controller Cellular – This is a package of the two new pro-only devices. The Doorbell Elite uses heavy-duty metal faceplates made in the USA.

Ring Spotlight Cam Wired and Spotlight Cam Mount – This hardwired motion-activated camera has an LED spotlight incorporated into it. It records in 1080 HD video with night vision. The Mount is hardwired with 110V to 240V power.

Free Ring Basic Plan Lifetime Streaming Service – Ring X clients will be able to receive free lifetime streaming/recording service with their professionally installed products. The Ring Basic plan fees are $3 per month per device currently.

Netgear Exclusive for Savant Dealers

One of Savant’s other big announcements at the Vegas meeting this week is an enhanced partnership with network products and services provider Netgear to offer the full suite of the company’s networking solutions to technology integrators. This exclusive arrangement will make Netgear’s products and services available to integrators via exclusive, co-engineered solutions for the custom installation market.

The objective of the alliance between Savant and Netgear is to create networking solutions that are optimized for the Savant smart home ecosystem, streamlining design, installation and service processes for integration professionals. Additionally, the two companies are working on a strategic roadmap of new products and services exclusive to and optimized for Savant. Through this partnership, integrators will gain access to 24/7 system design and support services, increasing jobsite efficiency while ensuring client satisfaction.

Among the solutions are wireless, routers, mobile hot-spots, SMB products (Small Medium Business), gaming solutions and more. Both companies are committed to “exhaustive testing, ensuring seamless interoperability and unparalleled performance between their respective platforms,” says a press release. Savant and Netgear are also collaborating on their cloud-based management platforms (Savant SCM and Netgear Insight) to provide network monitoring and management capabilities.

“Understanding the vitality of networking products and services to our integration partners for jobs of every size, it was our objective to align with a highly respected provider such as Netgear,” says Robert Madonna, CEO at Savant.

“Savant and Netgear are creating a hassle-free, highly streamlined infrastructure that converts the challenges of networking into an important opportunity for integrators.”

Netgear devices, including the 10-Gig switches that power Savant’s much heralded video-over-IP solutions, have been obtainable on the Savant store. Integrators can now expect a broader range of Netgear products available on the Savant store, with all purchases counting toward their yearly incentive program.
