In the realm of yachts, Arksens are a class all their own, being classed as an ‘explorer yacht’ meant to travel into some of the more remote areas of the open ocean. The three decks present on the Arksen 85 model offer a range of layouts that blend both rugged utilitarianism with modern ultra-luxury.
Naturally, ensuring that ship’s electronics are in tip-top shape stands as a priority, which is why Jasper Smith, the founder of Arksen, turned to integrator ClearSphere to help design the smart living systems to be used on the vessel.
Arksen 85 Yacht Blends Sustainable Marine Technology with Luxury Control Systems

Rather than being purely utilitarian, Arksen’s core value lie in balancing function and luxury, which meant that, despite being an exploratory vessel, the interior of the ship still needed to feel like home.
Having control over the ship’s onboard lighting, HVAC and entertainment systems were considered priority in the comfort space, while comprehensive ship monitoring and alarm systems were required for safety.

In designing the systems for the Arksen 85, ClearSphere went with a variety of third-party technologies, ultimately opting to unite them on Crestron’s control platform. The system also leveraged Crestron’s DM NVX AV-over-IP platform in order to meet the entertainment requirements.
From the control deck to the ship’s cabin, the system carries audio throughout the vessel, distributed to eight separate zones with Bowers & Wilkins speakers.
The system is even designed to be usable on long journeys where internet connectivity is expected to be severely limited. AirPlay software baked into the platform allow the guest and crew to play whatever music they want either in their individual cabins, or throughout the entire yacht.

Central Media Severs Carries Entertainment from Pola
On the video front, the yacht features a central media server designed to house all the entertainment options on the boat, as well as a CCTV system. Through the DM NVX system, these two sources are distributed to five televisions across the yacht.
According to ClearSphere, the addition of the media server was a must given the remote locations owners of the yachts are expected to go to.
Entertainment options are further enhanced via direct control of all televisions through touch screen remotes and touch screens spread across the three decks.
Intelligent Systems Strengthen Arksen 85 Yacht Eco-Friendly Credentials

Another core focus of the yacht’s system design was to maintain its sustainability credentials. As Arksen states, sustainability is put at the forefront of its ship design, using recycled material wherever possible.
In that same vein, the ships come equipped with exterior solar panels to assist with energy generation while out at sea.
Combining these systems with the Crestron interface, ClearSphere was able to give crewmembers the ability to monitor energy usage, optimize power generation, and control environmental settings while on board the ship, maximizing energy efficiency, and minimizing environmental impact while the ships are traveling abroad.
