Hunter Douglas has announced that its series of Duette Honeycomb Shades and Sonnette Cellular Roller Shades have been given an AERC rating.
AERC stands for Attachments Energy Rating Council, and it through the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) have put the Duette Honeycomb Shades and Sonnette Cellular Roller Shades products through a rigorous set of tests to validate the products’ energy performance rating.
Hunter Douglas explains the AERC represents a third-party certification of energy-savings potential of a window covering product. The products utilize a “sophisticated” process of material testing and window modeling that gauges the degree to which a window product such as a shade, blind or storm window will improve the performance of a window in minimizing heating and cooling usage.
Citing research from AERC, the window and shade manufacturer states that window attachment products in older homes can account for as much as 25% of annual heating and cooling costs, and ultimately they can be responsible for up to 40% of those costs.
The products can be used to cover a range of window types. The Duette Honeycomb shades with PowerView Motorization options provides homeowners a range of options to support integration into a variety of homes.
