The popular smart home technology company Ring at CES 2025 announced its latest ecoystem updates.
According to the global brand, among the most important items updated include:
- Smart Smoke and Combination (Smoke + CO) Alarms with Kidde: Together, Ring and Kidde are introducing a collection of alarms with Ring technology built-in that give customers added peace-of-mind. The alarms will alert customers in real-time through the Ring app when unsafe levels of smoke or carbon monoxide are detected. With this, Ring is also introducing a new optional 24/7 Smoke & CO Monitoring service for $5/month, where trained agents can request emergency help and alert a customer’s emergency contacts in the event of an alarm. The service will work with these new alarms, as well as Ring Alarm’s Smoke & CO Listener.
- 2K Video Resolution: The smart-home company is upgrading its Floodlight Cam Pro and Spotlight Cam Pro video resolution to 2K. While its existing HD Video delivers high resolution, Ring states that it is always working to enhance the user experience for both new and existing customers, and it suggests that 2K will deliver even greater sharpness and texture quality for enhanced detail and clarity. The 2K video will start rolling out on Floodlight Cam Pro and Spotlight Cam Pro beginning Jan. 8, 2025. Existing customers will be able to upgrade their Floodlight Cam Pro and Spotlight Cam Pro to 2K resolution at no added cost through the Ring app.
- Vehicle Detection: The company is also introducing vehicle detection. Now, when a vehicle is detected by a Ring camera, customers can receive a “vehicle detected” notification, giving them a clearer sense of what is happening around their home or business without having to open the app. Vehicle detection will start rolling out worldwide and is available through a Ring Home subscription.
