To simplify and improve the experience for some Nest customers, the company is making some experience updates that will affect Nest Secure and Dropcam users and Works with Nest users and developers.
On April 8, 2024, users will experience these changes:
- Nest Secure: The company will no longer provide support for Nest Secure. Nest states that it will be contacting eligible Nest Secure customers with an exclusive offer for a complimentary next-generation security system from ADT (up to $485 value), or $200 to use on the Google Store.
- Dropcam: We will cease support of Dropcam–all features will remain until April 8, 2024, after which users will no longer be able to use their Nest app to check status.
- Current Nest Aware subscribers will be able to order a complimentary Nest Cam (indoor, wired) to help keep their home secure; non-subscribers will receive a 50% off discount toward their Nest Cam (indoor, wired).
- U.S.-based customers can recycle their Nest Secure and Dropcam through a Nest recycling partner, who will send users using a postage-paid shipping label to their inbox.
- Works with Nest: We will officially end Works with Nest on September 29, 2023. Until then, all current Works with Nest connections will remain active. In the coming months, we’ll make available a script editor for users to create advanced home automations that will offer new features and capabilities.
Next emphasizes that as it continues to work on building and support devices and services that work well together, as well as protecting users’ homes and privacy, and creating helpful experiences in their smart homes, these evolutions are a necessary part of the process. The results the company adds will be a better experience for Nest users.
