Yamaha was one of the first manufacturers to embrace the soundbar category. Now the company is releasing its new YAS-706 MusicCast soundbar

Measuring less than 3-inches tall, Yamaha engineered the soundbar to fit neatly in front of flat-panel televisions without blocking TV screens. The low-profile soundbar can also be rotated for wall mounting to provide electronics professionals integration options without detracting from the sound quality of the product.

“The Yamaha YAS-706 soundbar is an important new addition to the MusicCast line and the perfect way for a customer to get started with a MusicCast whole-home audio system,” says Bob Goedken, general manager, A/V division, Yamaha. “Its phenomenal sound quality upgrades a typical, 'night in front of the TV' to an amazing, 'night at the movies' in your own home, while its powerful streaming capabilities make it easy to play your favorite music through it right from your smartphone. And with MusicCast, you can add wireless speakers in other rooms and listen to everything throughout your home, even your TV sound.”

Beyond the inclusion of Yamaha's proprietary MusicCast wireless whole-house audio platform, the YAS-706 soundbar also includes Bluetooth and Apple AirPlay wireless audio options that can be utilized as sources in a MusicCast system.

The center of the YAS-706 features separate amplifiers for treble, midrange and bass, and the company says this architecture is supported by a pair of midrange drivers, two built-in subwoofers and four tweeters. Depending on how the soundbar is setup, the YAS-706 automatically determines which set of tweeters to activate to maximize the listening experience.

The YAS-706's built-in subwoofers are designed to work in tandem with its external wireless subwoofer for extended and smooth low frequencies. It also employs its AIR SURROUND XTREME technology to simulate a 7.1 surround sound experience.

The YAS-706 supports the lossless multichannel audio formats Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD Master Audio and includes two HDMI 2.0 inputs that enable the playback of Ultra HD 4K with HDR video content.

The soundbar will retail for $1,000.
