The ability to play Xbox games directly on LG TVs is rolling out in the newest example of gaming providers partnering with smart TV makers.

Owners of some LG TVs can now play Xbox games directly on the TV and without a gaming console in the latest marriage between the smart TV and gaming industries.

The Xbox app is rolling out this week on LG’s Gaming Portal and LG App Store for smart TVs and monitors running webOS 24 or later. Supported devices include 2022 OLED TVs, select 2023 LG Smart TVs, newer models, and smart monitors with webOS 24+. The app will also be coming soon to LG’s StandbyME portable screens. The company first previewed this feature at CES 2025 in February.

With an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, users can play a wide range of Xbox games on Game Pass. Members can also stream some games they already own.

LG markets the new cloud gaming abilities along with its recently launched OLED and QNED TVs, which feature 4K upscaling capabilities and some of the best video technologies on the TV market.

In addition to now being able to stream Xbox games, LG TV owners can also play games from NVIDIA’s GeForce NOW, Amazon Luna, Blacknut, Utomik and Boosteroid.

LG Catches Up to Samsung’s Cloud Gaming Platform

LG follows TV rival Samsung, which has offered Xbox cloud gaming via its Gaming Hub platform since 2022.

LG and Samsung now have arguably the most mature cloud gaming capabilities on their video devices such as TVs, monitors and some projectors.

Like Samsung, LG Gaming Portal users need a Bluetooth-enabled controller to play games on the platform.

How to Play Xbox Games on LG TVs

To access LG’s Gaming Portal, owners of 2025 LG TVs can find the Xbox app in the new LG Gaming Portal, which is accessible from the TV’s home page.

For owners of LG TVs running latest webOS 24 and newer that includes 2022 OLED TVs and select 2023 LG Smart TVs which received a firmware upgrade, they can download the Xbox app from the app store.
