Torus POWERBLOCK Transformers Target Lower Cost Applications

At ISE 2018 Torus is introducing its POWERBLOCK line of mid-level isolation transformers that use toroidal-based technology to provide isolation for home theater and networks.

Power protection and line conditioning is one of the most debated product categories in electronics. Isolation transformers such as the newly announced Torus POWERBLOCK solutions are one option integrators can use to meet their power needs.

Introduced as part of its ISE 2018 show activities in Amsterdam, Torus Power says its newest product line provides professional integrators with a choice of smaller footprint power products that deliver the benefits of isolation transformers.

“We've taken a virtual 'shrink ray' to our big and heavy toroidal transformer, enabling us to offer a lightweight, compact unit that powers and protects AV components in applications where our full-size power products aren't necessary,” says Kevin Main, COO and president, Torus Power. “The benefits to isolating power for a clean signal to dramatically improve audio and video performance are well documented. Now, even smaller home theater systems and two-channel audio applications can enjoy enhanced peformance and superior protection.”

Located in Stand #1-Q115 during the ISE 2018 show, Torus Power states the POWERBLOCK (PB) series was developed for smaller A/V systems that need to isolate source components. The PB line of products can be used for a range of systems beyond two-channel audio and home theater that include whole-house AV, computer networks, security systems and more, according to the company.

Torus POWERBLOCK Cleans Dirty Power

Explaining the benefits of its isolation transformer-based PB products, Torus says its products magnetically isolate electronics from dirty power to reduce the noise floor, which in turn increases an audio system's dynamic range.

Torus Power's toroidal-based isolation transformer design also help audio systems by improving soundstages and their headroom. In video systems the company points out that clean, isolated power improves image clarity to help a system deliver brighter colors and deeper blacks.

The Canadian company indicates that some of the specific ways integrators can use the PB line of products include to protect a few components such as TV, projector, or a few source components.

Joining Torus' other product lines—the TOT Series, the RM Series and the AVR Series, AVR Series 2, Wall Mount and All-in-One Series—the PB Series provides authorized dealers with a complete selection of toroidal-based power protection and conditioning solutions.
