Shannon Townley, who served as president of SurgeX for the past eight years, has joined venerable projection screen manufacturer Stewart Filmscreen as president and CEO.

Former president and CEO Grant Stewart passed away in October 2015, and his wife Mary retained ownership of the company.

Since 2007, Townley served as CFO and president of SurgeX, a manufacturer of power protection, management and conditioning products. SurgeX was acquired in February of this year by Ametek, a $4 billion (revenue) manufacturer of electronic instruments and electro-mechanical devices.

Stewart and SurgeX have similar business profiles. Both serve residential and commercial integrators, and both produce premium – really, the most premium – products in their respective categories of projection screens and power management.

SurgeX typically ranks among the top 5 power management brands carried by CE Pro 100 integrators. Stewart has dominated the screen category every year.
