Sony A9G Master Series OLED Wins Value Electronics TV Shootout

New York integrator Value Electronics' ‘King of TV’ shootout compares Sony, LG and Samsung displays in competition.

Sony’s A9G Master Series OLED TV has been named “King of TV” in the 2019 Value Electronics annual TV shootout.

This year, Value Electronics, a leading independent audio video retailer in Scarsdale, N.Y., hosted its annual TV Shootout evaluation event in collaboration with CE Week at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC to determine who makes the best TV for 2019.

The Shootout participants and professional experts test, evaluate, and compare picture quality attributes of the latest flagship TVs each year side-by-side and the winner is crowned “King of TV.”

The four TVs competing for the 2019 crown included LG’s OLED65C9PUA, Samsung’s QN65Q90R, Sony’s XBR-65A9G, and Sony’s XBR-65Z9F.

It was a close competition with the panels all performing very well, based on the scoring. Among the judges at this year's competition were Joel Silver of Imaging Science Foundation and Brent McCall of Metra Home Theater

The Sony A9G Master Series OLED TV took the lead in most of the voting categories as well as the combined average of all categories, solidifying its win in the competition.

Here’s the breakdown of the specific award categories:

  • Best SDR Day Mode: Sony A9G OLED TV
  • Best SDR Reference Mode: Sony A9G OLED TV
  • Best HDR TV: Sony A9G OLED TV
  • Best Streaming TV: Tie Sony A9G OLED TV and LG C9P OLED TV

Robert Zohn, owner of Value Electronics, comments, “Consumers are advised to use the voting results to assess which criteria are most important to them and review each category to determine the TV that best matches their priorities and viewing conditions.”
