Origin Acoustics Explorer Collection: ‘No One is Making Yacht Speakers’

At ISE 2018, Origin Acoustics announces Explorer series of in-wall speakers that withstand water and salt, but not pirates.

Sand, salt, wind and rain are no match for the new Explorer Collection of in-wall loudspeakers from Origin Acoustics, introduced this week at ISE 2018.

Pirates, however, could be a problem. That’s because the six new speakers install – and uninstall – with a flick of the wrist, just like Origin’s land-bound models. A bandit could make off with a good haul in no time.

Despite their simple snap-in installation, however, the speakers fit snug to the wall, with beveled bayonet rings for the wall that correspond to beveled rubber on the speakers.

“No water can get into the cavity,” says Nick Berry, VP business development for Origin.

And in the off chance that a droplet breaches the ring, the entire guts of the speakers are “covered in silicone,” Berry says.

In addition, the trim and grilles feature Origin’s Weather-X coating that resist rust and discoloration over a very long time.

Berry says that, while other companies might make pricey “marine-grade” speakers, “No one is making yacht speakers” like Origin.

Origin Acoustics VP shows how simple it is to snap in the water-proof Explorer Collection yacht speakers.
