Personal audio remains one of the strongest categories in consumer electronics with the general public scooping up headphones like their favorite fast food items. The latest company to enter the personal audio category is the new headphone manufacturer Periodic Audio.
Founded by consumer electronics industry veterans Daniel Wiggins and Mike Kim, as well as two other partners, the new headphone company is launching three new in-ear monitors, which it says will be available for preorder on Feb. 15.
Periodic Audio says at the heart of its in-ear monitors is their transducers. Taking what it calls a “no compromise approach” to its products, the company says its in-ear monitors utilize materials such as pure beryllium for its Be model, pure titanium for its Ti model, and a high-magnesium content magnesium/aluminum alloy for the Mg model.
“Our team has worked with some of the biggest brands in entertainment; we are confident in our ability to design outstanding products,” says Dan Wiggins, co-founder, Periodic Audio. “We strongly believe that great audio reproduction should be accessible and easy to experience, and we have used this as the guiding principle for our new designs. Our collective efforts have yielded a lineup of in-ear monitors that provide music lovers an opportunity to enjoy the highest quality entertainment experience on the go.”
The company says the construction of headphones really makes a difference. Periodic Audio employs polycarbonate for its in-ear headphone bodies because this material is innate, and because of its acoustical dampening properties. The IEMs (in-ear monitors) feature proprietary enclosure designs with ported chambers in the front of and behind each transducer.
Periodic Audio adds that in order for it to ensure the best possible fit and sound quality, all three IEMs come with a choice of small, medium and large tips. Moreover, the headphones also feature gold-plated 1/4-inch jacks, airplane adapters and carry tins to store the products.
The headphones will begin shipping in early March.
Pricing: Mg in-ear is $99; Ti in-ear monitor is $199, and Be in-ear monitor is $299.
