New Marantz 8K-Ready Receivers Available Later this Year

The new SR series of AV receivers from Marantz provide 8K compatibility and a choice of four models.

Following its sister company Denon‘s recent 8K-ready AV receiver product introductions comes the new Marantz 8K-ready SR series of AVRs.

Marantz says the upcoming SR5015, SR6015, SR7015 and SR8015 will be available in September, July and August 2020 each respectively at retail prices that range from $1,099 to $3,199. These new receivers, the company continues represent a new era of home entertainment for consumers. (Update: The receivers are now available for purchase on Marantz’s website, though, as of this update, the SR5015 receivers are sold out).

“The new 2020 SR-Series AV receivers represent the next major step forward in home theater—not just for Marantz—but the entire home entertainment industry,” boasts Jake Mendel, global brand manager for Marantz.

“Marantz fans will be some of the first to experience new levels of incredibly sharp image quality, remarkably fast gaming and immersive surround sound. But more importantly, superior Marantz HDAM-SA3 amplification based on decades of extensive tuning transports the listener even closer to their music.”

Marantz 8K-Ready Receivers Support Dolby Atmos, DTS:X

Marantz points out that its 2020 SR-series of AV receivers offer features such as Dolby Atmos object-based surround sound, Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization Technology, DTS:X, DTS Virtual:X, IMAX Enhanced and Auro-3D.

The flagship receiver, the SR8015 also offers DTS:X Pro to enable integrators to set up as many as 13 channels of DTS:X immersive audio via configurations that include 7.2.6 and 9.2.4.

Other options built into the Marantz 8K-ready receivers include, a separate preamp mode built into the SR6015, SR7015 and SR8015 models. Marantz says this option provides a clear signal path and more tolerance in clipping levels by disconnecting the receivers’ internal amplification to allow integrators to use their preferred outboard amplifiers.

Marantz points out the receivers’ HDMI capabilities include dedicated 8K HDMI inputs with the ability to support 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 120Hz. The HDMI inputs also support Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) to reduce frame rate issues, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), Quick Frame Transport (QFT), and enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC).

Moving beyond those features, the new Marantz 8K-ready receivers provide room equalization options through the inclusion of Audyssey MultiEQ XT in the SR5015 model, and Audyssey MultEQ XT32 equalization suite in the SR6015, SR7015 and SR8015 models.

Additionally, the receivers offer whole-house audio support via the HEOS platform that delivers options such as high-resolution audio support through services such as TIDAL.

Not forgetting the installation community the new 2020 SR series of Marantz 8K-ready receivers employ remote monitoring capabilities via Domotz Pro and OvrC.

Control options include RS-232 and IP, and HDMI Multiple Input Assign, which allows homeowners to listen to multiple sources, while maintaining on-screen video.
