Complementing its selection of architectural loudspeakers, the new JBL Synthesis SSW-4 in-wall subwoofer is engineered to deliver the highest levels of performance.
JBL Synthesis, part of the Harman family of brands, says that its latest subwoofer is a self-contained product that employs an integrated backbox that facilitates installations into new construction and retrofit environments.
“The SSW-4 is optimized for deep, powerful bass response and complements our full range of JBL Synthesis in-wall loudspeakers,” comments Jim Garrett, senior director, product strategy and planning, Harman.
“It is an excellent solution for the custom installer who is seeking a high-performance, in-wall subwoofer that easily retrofits into a standard 2×4 stud frame construction projects.”
JBL Synthesis SSW-4 In-Wall Sub Utilizes Dual Drivers
According to the company, the SSW-4 in-wall subwoofer targets the needs of integrators. JBL Synthesis explains that through the in-wall sub's design, integrators won't need to install enclosures behind drywalls.
Highlighting the sub's list of technologies is a pair of dual 8-inch woofers. Augmenting the woofers is an integrated MDF backbox enclosure with ABS front baffles that include a flange and magnets for the sub's companion zero-bezel magnetic grill.

Other features built into the SSW-4 in-wall sub include heavy-duty, gold-plated push terminals to support easy cabling connection, and a mounting system that is engineered to provide acoustic isolation from wall studs.
In addition, the SSW-4 in-wall sub complements a variety of room environments through its ability to install behind traditional applications such as acoustic fabric or behind acoustically transparent projection screens.
The SSW-4 joins JBL Synthesis' other subwoofer products: the 1500 Array, the S1S-EX, the S2S-EX, the S4S and the SUB 560P.
