Baluns are a convenient way for integrators to ensure the reliability and integrity of long cabling runs, and few companies have the experience in designing and manufacturing these products as the Fremont, Calif.-based company Energy Transformation Systems (ETS).
The almost 50-year-old manufacturer has introduced its latest balun products: the PA881 (unbalanced) and PA882 (coax). Energy Transformation Systems says the devices enable digital audio signals to reliably transmit over unshielded twisted pair (UTP) or 75-ohm unbalanced cable.
The PA881 allows installers to send unbalanced signals over twisted-pair cables, while the PA882 allows integrators to send balanced signals to unbalanced 75-ohm cables. Explaining in greater detail, Energy Transformation Systems points outs the baluns perform impedance matching and signal balancing to support the transmission of SPDIF signals with greater reliability over long cabling runs.
ETS adds the baluns can be deployed as temporary or permanent solutions, and the company says installers can use the products to address residential and commercial installations ranging from home theaters, to broadcast control rooms, recording studios and healthcare facilities.
