Builders Show 2017 in Tweets: @CEDIA #JJTakeover

What happens when you hand the keys to the Twitter kingdom … to a sometimes-erratic editor? @CEDIA took the chance and allowed me to take over its Twitter account during IBS 2017, the International Builders Show.

The results: an uncharacteristically tame (some would same lame) series of posts about the show, with just a couple shenanigans thrown in.

It was a rare show of decorum, following the style of Peter Aylett, my cohort on the CEDIA Tech Council. He did a swell job owning the CEDIA #TechCouncilTakeover at CES 2017.

IBS was a good show. CEDIA did itself and its members proud, hosting the Smart Home Pavilion comprised of roughly a dozen exhibitors. In many cases, these exhibitors would have had no where else to go on the show floor. They would have been swallowed by the giants in vinyl siding, showerheads and countertops.

Even though the home-technology category was woefully underrepresented at IBS, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), which produces the show, is keenly interested in the smart-home space. Executives of the group attended an intimate CEDIA reception and expressed interest in getting more engaged with the IoT community.

Using the hashtag #JJTakeover, I posted a series of Tweets to CEDIA's Twitter account. Here they are, with a few others included as well.

Thanks for the opportunity, CEDIA!
