Brilliant NextGen has introduced its Second Generation Smart Home Controls, aimed at enhancing automation performance and device compatibility for both single-family and multifamily housing. The company says the new offering includes a suite of hardware and software upgrades, designed to provide faster response times, streamlined connectivity, and advanced integration capabilities with major smart home ecosystems.

The latest controls feature an AI-ready processor, dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) support, and a 5-inch digital touchscreen with four times the screen resolution of previous models, the company says.  Additional features include motion, ambient light, and temperature sensors, as well as a built-in camera with a physical privacy slider.

According to Brilliant NextGen, the product is designed for scalability and integration across its broader ecosystem, which includes smart dimmer switches, plugs, a mobile app, and a multifamily platform. Compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit enables broad voice control and automation options for end users.

Lisa Petrucci, CEO of Brilliant NextGen, says the new controls address the need for smarter and more connected living environments.

“They offer a seamless balance of speed, reliability, and outstanding functionality that caters to the needs of homeowners, property developers, and operators,” Petrucci said. “This is modern living at its finest.”

Brilliant’s New Strategy in Action

Brilliant’s solutions are currently deployed by several national builders and multifamily operators. According to the company, these include Landmark Properties and By Gomes on the multifamily side, and Melia Homes among single-family homebuilders. Distributors and integration firms such as In Charge, Mountain West, and Republic Elite also carry and install Brilliant systems.

The company positions its offering as a tool for developers and property managers to reduce operating costs, differentiate offerings, and provide modern smart living experiences for residents. For homeowners, the system aims to simplify control over lighting, music, climate, and security within a single interface.

In fact, this closer relationship with builders and property managers reflects the company’s new strategy, which was born when the company was bought by a private equity firm in a move that saved the brand from financial disaster and irrelevancy after it reportedly laid off most of its staff nearly a year ago.

The San Mateo, Calif.-based company was reborn as Brilliant NextGen, with a focus on the professional builder and property management markets, according to Brilliant’s statement. The company cites professional builders, developers and custom integrators among its partners.

Brilliant’s Second Generation Smart Home Controls are available through the company’s network of distributors and integrators, as well as via its website.
