A few years ago when Marantz first introduced its Slim Design Receivers, it instantly filled a need within the home theater market for space-friendly A/V receivers that could fit into furniture and rack systems without taking up much room.
Adding to the Slim product line, Marantz has just introduced its new NR1607 Slim Design 7.2-channel A/V receiver.
Standing four inches high the NR1607 incorporates dual antennas that help to facilitate its inclusion of 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless networking technologies, as well as other wireless formats such as Bluetooth and Apple's AirPlay format. The receiver's networking options also enable the streaming of content from Spotify Connect, Internet radio and digital audio files from a local network.
Through the receiver's 7.2 channels of sound, dealers can setup Dolby Atmos-based surround sound systems, and later DTS:X decoding (firmware update is expected later this year). Marantz rates the amplifier section to produce 50 watts of power per channel into an 8-ohm load, and it says the receiver is compatible with audio formats such as FLAC, AIFF and WAV for the playback of digital music files.
Outlining the receiver's video capabilities, Marantz points out the NR1607 includes eight HDMI 2.0a inputs that are HDCP 2.2 compliant. The receiver is capable of supporting full 4K at 60Hz refresh rates, as well as 4:4:4 Pure Color Subsampling, high dynamic range (HDR), wide color gamuts, 21:9 aspect ratios, and BT.2020 pass-through. Marantz also points out the receiver is also Imaging Science Foundation (ISF) certified, and it provides a full suite of calibration options, including ISF Day/Night modes.
Some of the other options bundled into the NR1607 include Audyssey MultEQ room calibration, multiroom/multisource entertainment provisions, and control apps that are available on the iOS, Android and Kindle Fire platforms.
