Just as we’re getting to the dog days of summer, Atlantic Technology is giving integrators and their customers more reason to spend quality time outdoors.
The Norwood, Mass.-based audio company announced is unleashing nine new outdoor loudspeaker models for custom install and commercial applications.
The mix of new all-weather indoor/outdoor speakers expands upon Atlantic Tech’s offerings with features such as advanced drivers and wireless technologies, the company says.
That bump in options ought to serve integrators well, as 73% of their outdoor projects include loudspeakers, according to the annual Outdoor Technology Deep Dive research conducted by CE Pro earlier this year.
Constant Current, Constant Voltage & Wireless Series
Some details from Atlantic Tech on the three series of offerings that comprise the nine new models, which are sold in pairs with three woofer sizes and in two colors:
Constant Current Series: 4 ohm speakers for installations where standard amplification is desired.
Constant Voltage Series: Externally switchable with a 4 ohm setting plus three impedance/wattage settings with the built-in transformer making them suitable for larger 70/100-volt home and commercial applications where long distances and many speakers are required.
Wireless Series: Active AC powered speakers featuring SKAA wireless technology for applications where running signal cable is an issue or installation flexibility and transportability is needed.
Atlantic Tech says integrators can easily and quickly extend music playback from any audio source outdoors with long-range broadcasts of SKAA audio from any of Atlantic’s line of tiny SKAA transmitters, amps and indoor speaker systems.
Each pair of Wireless Series models comes with a remote control and a free “.cmd” app for iOS, Android, Windows and Mac OS X to manage multiroom transmitter/speaker control. It can be downloaded for free from the SKAA website https://skaa.com/tlc/skaa-cmd/
New Woofers, Simple Install Flexibility
The speakers employ sealed UV, impact resistant cabinets made with heavily reinforced, acoustically inert mineral-filled polypropylene that, according to Atlantic Technology, provides a more neutral and less “ringy” sound than typical outdoor speakers.

Internally, each series incorporates a 1-inch ferrofluid-cooled titanium tweeter with a neodymium magnet; a 12dB/octave crossover; and 90dB efficiency mating with new woofers in either, 4-inch, 5.5-inch or 6.5-inch sizes.
The woofers contain rigid lightweight mineral homopolymer-loaded fiberglass cones to deliver tight articulate deep bass and a clear mid-range creating a directed sound field with the tweeter, Atlantic Tech explains.
Available in black or white, the paintable speakers offer aluminum power-coated grilles and single-handed install adjustable mounting brackets. Passive models include spring-loaded gold-plated speaker terminals with posts designed for 16 gauge or larger cables, the company adds.
Constant Current Series models (AW-SD100, AW-SD200, AW-SD300) run $299, $349 and $399; Constant Voltage Series (AW-TR100, AW-TR200, AW-TR300) are $329, $379 and $429; and Wireless Series (AW-WS100, AW-WS200, AW-WS300) are $439, $499 and $569.
Atlantic Tech says 100 series models are shipping now, followed by the 300 series shipping in August and the 200 series in September.
