One of the highlights at CEDIA 2016 was the SpeakerCraft Theater demonstrating the world’s first Dolby Atmos® enabled in-wall height speaker – the SpeakerCraft ATX100. A new entry to the AIM Series 2 in-wall line, the ATX100 lets you turn any room into a Dolby Atmos home theater experience.

To deliver that immersive experience, the ATX100’s dual drivers and tweeter fire upward into the acoustically controlled wave guide that projects the Dolby Atmos “height” sound off the ceiling. The ¾” custom titanium dome tweeter with high-energy Neodymium magnet structure boasts frequency response up to 22kHz, and with its dual 2½” Kevlar-reinforced pulp mid-bass drivers, the ATX100 can handle up to 125 Watts of amplifier power at 8 Ohms.
Adhering to Dolby’s specifications and performance requirements, the ATX100 reflects sound off the ceiling to place and move audio anywhere in the room and bring immersive entertainment to life.
The ATX100 is the architectural in-wall solution to the traditional floor-standing or bookshelf “height” speakers currently in the market, and is the first available in-wall height speaker to carry the “Dolby Atmos Enabled” moniker.
Like other speakers in the AIM Series 2 line, the AXT100 leverages SpeakerCraft’s Acoustic Isolation Technology™ (AIT) to minimize acoustic energy transfer to the mounting and surrounding surfaces. This acoustic decoupling allows listeners to hear more of the actual speaker and less of the sound that normally radiates from the mounting surface. To further minimize sound transmission to adjacent rooms while maximizing the sound reproduction, the ATX100 features a fully integrated acoustic back box.
Working hand-in-hand with the ATX100 are the new top-of-the-line AIM Series 2 in-wall left-center-right (LCR) speakers, the AIM LCR5 FIVE Series 2 and the AIM LCR5 TWO Series 2. “We took the key technologies developed for the AIM Series 2 in-ceiling line and applied them to these new in-wall speakers,” said Matt Dever, “and the technology translated flawlessly, delivering an exceptional home theater-audio experience.”
These new speakers employ the all-new Arrayed Point Source™ (APS) Tweeter Module. The APS module incorporates three pivoting titanium dome tweeters mounted in a rotational sound baffle to precisely focus the high frequency sound into the targeted listening area, reducing unwanted reflections. Like their AIM Series 2 in-ceiling counterparts, the extra surface area from the three tweeters enables a lower crossover point; this delivers extra sound pressure in the midrange frequencies critical for crisp, clear dialog.
Both of the AIM Series 2 LCR5 in-walls can be paired with the ATX100 to take full advantage of the latest object-based surround audio systems. The ATS500 System pairs the AIM LCR5 FIVE Series 2 with the ATX100 behind a single grille. The ATS200 System combines the AIM LCR5 TWO Series 2 with the height module, also behind a single grille.
