Elite AVL Lets Accent Lighting Do the Talking in This Luxury Texan Home

Inspired by one of the team’s prior projects, the client for this residence had a very particular vision for lighting in the home.

Providential Custom Homes approached Elite AV & Lighting for a new build, citing that the homeowner had been inspired by one of the integrator’s previous lighting projects and was keen on having accent lighting be the hallmark of his luxury residence.

“The vision was to weave accent lighting seamlessly into every nook and cranny of the residence. Achieving this required us to foster deep collaboration with a plethora of professionals — the dry wall company, the cabinet makers, and the skilled trim carpenters,” Elite AVL Owner Justin Dohman states.

Another obstacle Dohman’s team faced: Where to house the automation gear and lighting power supplies essential for such an elaborate setup? The house’s design had overlooked the need for additional closets or spaces to accommodate such components, he notes, so Elite AVL created a dedicated space within an office cabinet, concealing the entire rack.

The custom lighting design featuring Colorbeam and American Lighting LEDs aims to captivate. It starts with the cove lighting, which weaves its way across six raised ceilings. Then, rounding the corner, the kitchen glows with illumination.

Venturing even deeper into the home, the accent lighting blooms into a subtle under-bar glow, artfully lit living room shelves, and a wine room that combines recessed LED brilliance with sophisticated bar ambiance. The office also boasts floating shelves bathed in light, while the media room offers a dual treat of ceiling/trim and floating shelf luminance.

“What truly sets this home apart is the unwavering commitment to uniformity and harmony,” Dohman says. “Every light source in the residence is fine-tuned to emanate a color temperature of 3500K, striking the perfect balance between warmth and brightness, ensuring every corner radiates with consistency.”

There is plenty of beauty to behold in the controls as well. The once cumbersome array of light switches were replaced with a more simplistic and intuitive Control4 keypad system.

“In essence, this project stands out not just for its aesthetic brilliance but for the harmonious blend of technical prowess, innovative product lines, and user-centric design,” adds Dohman.
