As the demand for advanced visual technology grows beyond traditional setups ultra-short throw (UST) projection solutions are becoming more popular, with Epson announcing its new QS100 4K PRO-UHD HDR Ultra-Short Throw Laser Projector in hopes of capitalizing on that growing popularity.

The Epson QS100 4K PRO-UHD UST projector is capable of projecting images of up to 160 inches from just inches away from the screen to bring cinematic-scale entertainment into any space. Designed with custom integrators and interior designers in mind, the QS100 seamlessly integrates with immersive audio and smart home control systems to create fully customized, intelligently connected experiences in great rooms and media spaces. Epson points out that its new UST projector is also ISF Certified, allowing calibration to optimize performance based on the viewing environment.

4,500 Lumens Help QS100 Thrive in High Ambient Light Environments

According to the company, the QS100 is engineered to produce high-quality home video images in a range of environments that include well-lit spaces. Epson specifies the QS100 to produce up to 4,500 lumens of color brightness (IDMS Rated) and 4,500 lumens of white brightness (ISO Rated)3 through its proprietary 3-chip 3LCD laser-array technology.

The QS100 is powered by Epson’s QZX Picture Processor, a 32-bit proprietary engine the company says enhances contrast, brightness and color accuracy. Epson notes that whether a homeowner is watching live sports, TV shows, movies or gaming, they will experience clear and detailed images. Additionally, its advanced dynamic tone mapping feature further refines HDR performance for a balanced, vibrant, true-to-life image.

Designed to blend well into different types of décor, the QS100 offers features the company’s latest industrial design with a matte finish in black or white color options, reducing reflection glares that may distort picture quality.

Additional features include:

  • HDR Compatibility: Full 10-bit HDR color processing supports HDR, HDR104 and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) content for improved color accuracy, enhanced contrast, and more realistic and immersive viewing experiences for movies and games. Dynamic tone mapping automatically adjusts to the optimal HDR level frame-by-frame.
  • Smart Home Control: Professional integrators can create an intelligent and integrated home entertainment experience by configuring Crestron, Control4, or any PJLink compatible control system, allowing for remote control via advanced smart home control systems.
  • Quick Turn-On Laser Array Light Source: The QS100 UST projector features multi-array laser diodes that produce a light source that delivers color accuracy, and virtually maintenance-free operation for up to 20,000 hours.
  • Big-Picture Gaming Performance: Epson emphasizes that gamers will experience smooth gaming activities through the projector’s inclusion of Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and a low input lag for competitive gaming.
  • Flexible Installation: Epson adds the QS100 comes with individually adjustable feet, multi-point picture settings and an optional wall-mount bracket, to help facilitate setup. Epson also stresses the UST 4K projector is also compatible with UST projector integrated cabinets from Salamander Designs.
