Savant has released version 8.8 of its home-automation software, featuring updates to lighting control and whole-house audio. The update includes Savant Music 2.0, which improves upon the company's existing music-management and -streaming platform introduced last year.
Savant built Music 2.0 from the ground up, according to the company, moving away from the Autonomic platform that originally powered its media servers.
Savant says the new software is more reliable, faster and easier to navigate than previous versions. The control screens have been redesigned, with preset recalls and song queues added to the feature set. The update also offers a new equalizer screen, allowing users to fine-tune sound on supported devices (see the screen shots).
Music 2.0 supports major streaming services like Spotify, Pandora, TuneIn, Tidal and Deezer, as well as Airplay and PLEX support for locally stored music. The software is currently available and is built into Savant’s IP Audio family of audio-distribution systems.
Savant 8.8 Includes iOS Refresh, TrueImage Update
The Savant Pro 8 App for iOS received a facelift and now features a “fresher, lighter design” according to the company. The new design features dedicated screens for cable, satellite, and streaming video services among others, so users can more easily access commonly used controls such as volume and mute functions.
The app also features configurable button trays, so users can quickly and easily modify button layouts to highlight their favorite commands.

Savant used the 8.8 update to launch a compact home selector view for those users with multiple Savant homes, in the hopes of making the control of multiple properties more intuitive.
The company also updated its TrueImage lighting interface, adding support for the Savant Pro Remote, and new features such as advanced white temperature settings for specific and popular color temperatures from 2700K to 6000K.
TrueImage now has favorite colors presets and color combinations for easier recall, as well as an improved color selection tool for Savant Smart Bulbs and Strips. Additionally, the company added a slider interface, allowing users to select exact RGB values to help achieve the perfect color for their environment.
