SurgeX Axess Elite SX-AX20E Power Conditioner
Arlen Schweiger | 03/29 06:28 AM, 0 Comments
It’s not enough for a power conditioner to just be a power conditioner anymore. These days such products are also conduits to clients’ home theater systems or other connected components to be remotely monitored, managed and troubleshot by a custom integrator at a moment’s notice. I got a taste of this when I reviewed Panamax’s BlueBolt-enabled M4315-PRO power conditioner a couple of years ago, and North Carolina-based SurgeX recently rolled out its Axess Elite “web-enabled power conditioner and energy management system,” which delivers similar flexibility and impact, though perhaps slightly… View this story

ihiji and SnapAV have partnered to provide simplified cloud-based power management of SnapAV WattBox IP products using ihiji’s NetNinja suite within the ihiji invision web portal. The move allows dealers simple and secure access to all of their WattBox installations from a centralized invision dashboard. Consolidating this data eliminates the need to incorporate multiple remote monitoring systems to gain insight into the health and well being of a growing assortment of connected devices. Dealers can now manage power, network, and control system devices from SnapAV and other manufacturers without the… View this story

SnapAV is now shipping its new line of Wattbox IP+ power conditioners that incorporates a self-healing auto-reboot feature that automatically resets wireless routers or other devices in the event of connectivity issues.  “A locked up router can mean a costly truck roll for dealers. Those unnecessary service calls are a huge pain point,” says Adam Levy, senior vice president. “These new Wattbox units put an end to those types of calls, and at a price point that allows IP control for any job.” Additionally products feature full IP-control and are… View this story

If you’re an integrator in Connecticut, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Pennsylvania or the Washington D.C. metro areas and you’re able to read this, you’re one of the lucky ones. You have power when most of your colleagues and customers don’t. My prayers go out to you that all is safe. Hurricane Sandy is bringing to light vulnerabilities of how integrators communicate with clients and cloud content. First, how should you be communicating with your clients during this difficult time without appearing to be an “ambulance chaser” wanting to… View this story

It’s hard ...  in fact it is nearly impossible to quantify the value of power management in the home, but it’s one of those product categories that no one truly appreciates until a lightning strike, surge or brownout affects their property. The Petaluma, Calif.-based manufacturer Panamax has decades of design and engineering experience in the power protection/management category and recently the company announced its latest power management products. Adding to its MR series of products the company has just introduced the MR4300 and MR5100 power management units and Panamax says… View this story

If Mother Nature gives you lemons, make lemonade. That’s what Todd Anthony Puma of The Source Home Theater in New York City did in preparation for Hurricane Sandy, or “Frankenstorm.” Knowing his clients would be concerned about losing power to their electronics during the storm, Puma purchased $4,000 of APC uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) battery backup systems a week before the storm. He solicited customers with a “special” and was able to sell and install 15 systems in just two days. “Being it was such short notice, we could have… View this story

It's relatively easy to rack mount A/V receivers, Blu-ray players, cable boxes, etc., but it's another thing to incorporate these devices into a rack and also provide provisions that protect these products from the inherit danger their surroundings could deliver without taking up too much space. The Fairfield, N.J.-based manufacturer Middle Atlantic is now making that process easier thanks to the release of its new PowerCool Series of integrated power distribution and thermal management products. Middle Atlantic says the PowerCool Series provides custom electronics professionals with a convenient way to… View this story

Glass half full or glass half empty? It all depends on perspective. The same is true for how you look at your service revenue. Is it a money-maker (and I mean profit, not just revenue) or is it an expensive truck roll? Either way, installing remote managed services can make the question moot, especially when your clients are located far from your facility. No matter what the proximity, resolving A/V system issues in a timely manner can be tricky. Appleton, Wisconsin-based Suess Electronics relies on Panamax/Furman’s BlueBOLT hosted remote power… View this story

Today's weather seems more unpredictable than ever before and if the idea of random tornados, blinding snow storms, powerful ice storms and debilitating lightning strikes once seemed far fetched, the craziness of today's weather extremes means these events are no longer out of the realm of possibility. Power protection can't save a home from the perils of a tornado or ice storm, but it can protect homes from surges, spikes and other power related anomalies during times of lightning strikes and other events. Eaton Corporation's new collaboration with Mike Holmes… View this story

SurgeX Cervella
Steven Castle | 06/14 08:59 AM, 0 Comments
SurgeX recently detailed its new IP-addressable Axess line of power conditioners for monitoring and controlling individual outlets and remote rebooting, whether in an A/V or whole-house system. SurgeX has now announced the availability of Cervella, which is essentially the brains of Axess, Axess Elite and Axess Ready products, providing integrated power protection, device management, control and reporting. When installed on a network, Cervella aggregates outlet-level energy and power information collected from each connected Axess or Axess Elite device into a single interface. Cervella displays and stores power/energy data including energy… View this story
